Noppera-bo Short Film Faceless Makeups

Undertaking makeup FX for the short film “Noppera-bo,” based on the Japanese yōkai ghost with a faceless visage, presented a distinctive challenge. Our team adeptly crafted two faceless ghosts by skillfully painting and blending a stretchy nylon, ensuring the actors could breathe while maintaining an eerie and authentic appearance. Adding to the complexity, we had to create a false face to be slipped off by one of the actors and splatter on the ground – a task achieved through lifecasting, gelatin, and intricate hair work. The film’s success speaks volumes, earning accolades such as award winner at The International Horror Hotel, a semi-finalist position at Phoenix Shorts, official selection status at The Bridgeport Film Fest, Gen Con Film Festival, and Halloweenapalooza Film Festival, as well as being a Finalist at Hollywood Horrorfest and receiving an Honorable Mention at Happenstance Horror Fest. This project showcases our ability to bring mythical entities to life while garnering recognition in the competitive film festival circuit.
